the newest member of our family.....

It's my JESSY-GIRL! :)
She was born June.21.2006.
her daddy was a pure breed SHIH TSU, her mommy was 1/2 MALTESE & 1/2 POODLE.
she weights 8 pounds 4 oz (as of 2 weeks ago).
She is VERY calm, doesnt bark, and very well behaved! (I have been commented on her good behaviour while in PETSMART from various employee's & the groomer, as well as people walking thier dogs in my neighborhood).
We are working on potty training (lmao can you tell i have children!?)..she will not pooh outside *grrrrr* but will pee outside no prob. Inside we have her going on her puppy mats but she does have little accidents OFF the mat at times.
We did get her a crate because we wanted to crate train her but the first night we put her in she whimpered, cried and barfed for most of the night. which would have been a problem if i didnt have 2 young children who need thier sleep. (not to mention the fact when i went to get her out of her crate early am there was poooooh EVERYWHERE and i needed to give her a good bath because of it *gag gag gag*)
When we leave for short periods without jessy in tow, we leave her in the living room/dinning room and she behaves herself. (usually jessy is with us but we cant take her to wal*mart with us..BOOOO on them!)

what else can i say? hummmmmmm....
She's a love-bug!!!!!

i tried my hand at knitting.

I dont have fond memories of it actually. LOL.
When we would go visit my Nanny when i was young she would make me sit down on her old hard couch (the claw foot type) that was stiff and painful and make me knit. I dont know how many scarves i made but she never let me take them home. I think she wanted to show off my work. Which made me sad because as a child i wanted to take it home and wear it. I was between 4-5 when this ritual was deemed to me.

So yesterday i say down with some knitting needles (that i had picked up on sale) and a few learn to knits books (Stitch 'n Bitch THE KNITTER's HANDBOOK *library book* and a little booklet i picked up at the same time as the knitting needles, PATONS: NEXT STPENS ONE knitting guidebook) nad i started. It's amazing how it all came back to me once i cast on. I am making a thin scarf for heather. then i will try my hand at different stitches. (perl?) LOL.

I think i may be getting the stitch 'n bitch knitting books. (I borrowed both from the library) and i LOVE LOVE LOVE them just as much as my crochet one.

There are SOOOOOOOO many things i would LOVE to make from the knit stich 'n bitch...but i think i must have a bit more experience in understanding the terms befor i attempt ANYTHING! LMAO.

I am also interested in embroidery now too! hehehehe...
I do beleieve i will put some of that sort of stuff on my x-mas list as per paul's request. :)

My sewing machine is now fixed. yeahhhhhhhhhh it had a broken needle what was somehow wedged inside the guts of the machine. My FIL fixed it and it's sitting at thier house waiting to be picked up.
I got my beleoved sewing machine when i was 15. I usted to make summer outfits for zac. *laughing*. oh what fun!
I want to get back into making clothes for the kids :)
arn't i just the crafty person? *laughing*
with what time i will be doing this....i have NO IDEA!.

It's fun to be crafty....non?

I do..i really really do..and i know it :(

I have reglected my blog....

I have been busy crocheting though *smiles*...oh yes oh yes i have! and i do have pictures floating aorund somewhere...yes yes yes!

And i have 3 projects on the go that since i know i am almost finished i dont have the engery for anymore!? CAN YOU BELEIVE THAT? it happens to me EVERY time!!!! AND i have a list of about 6 things that i want to make next! (some x-mas gifts!).
The 3 things not finished yet:
white baby sweater (my first)
sponge buddy/bob hat and mitt set
&
a SURPRISE item i have created (and writing as i go..and i might add..I HATE writing up a pattern as i go..HATE IT!!!! takes DOUBLE the time but will be worth it!)

I used TLC baby for the pink/white one (held a strand of each together for that one)
and the yellowish one was from my mother's old stash of yarn (a decade old but in AWSOME condition...if i remember correctly she bought it to make a blanket for my now 15 year old son when i was preggy!!!!

GROMIT is finished....and has eyes (did i post this with eyes yet?)

The CAMO hat is for my 15 year old ZAC. It is done with BERNAT yarn and came from *thinking* oh the book i borrowed from the library *insert book name here*

This greeny hat came from the same book...I love it but the style doesnt suit me :( i am going to gift it to mom i think....LOL. It's made from BERNAT denium cotton stuff. LMAO

Lastly..a pic of my yarn stash holder. Paul (husband) went out and bought me another stacker (it has 3 now) because somehowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww my yarn stash grew! what's up with THAT? *throws hands up*..so now everything is in there nice and neat AND in ORDER! whoohooooo.

I have decided NO MORE big yarn purchus' for me untill i use up what i have!...That doesnt mean i cant buy yarn for a certain PROJECT...LMAO...it just means i have to use up what i have for something..ANYTHING!!!!

so i am having a BALL making MARY's fishnet wrist warmers....

I finished the LARGE...i made them with RED HEART yarn....

I love em! i could sit and crochet them all day ... pumping out a few pairs..hehehehe...they are GREAT!!!! i have had so many compliments on them!

6 weird things/habits about myself:

1. I am totally grey...i started going grey when i was 16...I get my hair streaked blond to blend in with the grey...LOL.

2. Spiders make me ill..PHYSICALLY ILL. IF one so happen to crawl on me, i either pass out or get ill. I make my husband kill them (sorry lucy. has to be done) and i have him show me the carcus because i have to make sure it's dead befor i can carry on. If in the middle of the night i see one, i wake Paul up to kill it.

3. I cannot sleep with the closet door open...and i cannot sleep with MY bedroom door closed. (I hate sleeping in hotels and motels because i feel closed in)

4. Up untill a year ago i had body piercings...nose and tongue. I took my toung ring out because i got all freaked out over some story that someone told me about how someone's hole grew untill the tongue ring fell out. LOL. My nose ring fell out when i was sleeping and it closed up by the time i woke up *tears* I am a REBEL! hhehehe (I have 3 tattoo's too with plans to get MANY more!)

5. I sleep with a teddy bear that i have had since i was 4. (i am 32)...I use him as a pillow.

6. guilty pleasures:
music: bagpipes music & BSB's heheheheheh
tv: teen drama (degrassi series, the oc, falcon beach, bev 90210)
food: vinigar on ANYTHING...(it add's a nice kick to spagetti sauce or pizza sauce)

well, it's not really CROCHET related but it is on MY body..hehehe
hubby and i went away for our 5 year wedding anni (together for 10 total) a few days ago...we went to Niagara Falls (about 40 mins from us)..and wouldnt you know it, there was a tattoo shop just down from our hotel (there were actually 3 in that vacenity)...
I have 2 tattoo's already...the new one...was an ADD ON to one i already have...this one:

Let me explain...it's MY design...
The symbol that i already had means ANGEL...it's for a baby i lost shortly after we were married. It means alot to me to have that tattoo. The "Z" above it is for my oldest son Zachary, the "H" is for my daughter Heather & the "J" is for my youngest son John. All my children are surrounded by a tribal heart. (my design)

I LOVE it!!! :)

In a bit i am going to go and get my other tattoo added onto...(it's a rose on my right breast)...i am going to design that one too which is going to revolve around my husband.

I have plans for ANOTHER tattoo as well...LMAO....(yeah i love tattoo's...) but it isnt going to happen untill i lose the amount of weight i want to lose. (I am doing herbal magic right now and am down 12 pounds in 4 weeks)...I am imagining it will be done sometime next year.

so yeah...that's my new tattoo...
it's on my left leg..on the side...above my ankle.

hehehe i also took pictures as he was doing the tattoo! hehehehe...the only time it hurt was the bottom of the heart where it points down towards the ankle..I am VERY boney there...and that hurt like a *#*!*!

I LOVE IT!
I havent carried a purse in oh, 3.5 years...due to having children and carrying a diaper bag, my wallet would just get thrown in there instead od a purse, because really, who has another free arm to carry a PURSE as well as a big-butt diaper bad! right? (heather just turned 3 1.2 years old on the 5th..and john turned 17 months on the 5th)
So i made me this one....to take on my little "get-away" with my husband for our 5 year married anni (we've been together for 10 our anni is the 11 of aug). My parents are coming to watch ALLLLLLL the children here at our place for 2 days and 1 night...we are going to Niagara Falls (about 40 mins from us..canadian side) to a hotel (with a jacuzzi), going to hit the casino, and the ever so popular tourist traps (my husbands get's in free witha guest to most of them threw work). I AM EXCITED!!!!
I havent had a night ALONE with Paul in over 3 years !!!! 3 YEARS PEOPLE!!!!!

i finished off my nieces top (like the one i made heather a few posts down excpet SANS shrug). It's in a dark pink with a light pink trim. I used COTTON TOTS (will have a pic later when i get around to taking the pic). IT WAS sepost to be for her b-day..which was last week. I will ship if off to her in the mail.

You know what i have noticed?
If i make a dead line for something i make...like for a pressent. I NEVER finish it on time. No matter if i give myself a MONTH to do..NEVER finish it.
I think i have come to the conclusion NO MATTER WHAT i am a procrastinator. (sp? - i SUCK at english spelling, i blaim it on being FRENCH and learning mostly in frech in school). I should not make dead lines...dead lines are BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD.

I still am working on the baby blanket...on and off threw out the day. great fun!

I REALLY like the "sheen" to this yarn...it's not a yarn texture i have worked with befor...quite enjoyable!

I started it this morning while the younger children blasted music (Markus http://hometown.aol.com/himarkus/myhomepage/newsletter.html)and dances around. My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE thier music! definitly get that from me and Paul! :) Paul plays guitar (acustic, electric & bass). Zac is starting to play guitar (bought himself an electric guitar last year and paul got him an amp)...he should be taking lessons soon! :).
Heather's like me...rather sing. LOL. not that i am good or anything but she likes to belt the tunes out! LOL
John dances around...hehehehe too cute!

So yeah...going to work on that today. :)

I'm 29 again today....for the *counts fingers*...screw that...I'm 29 AGAIN! yeahhaaaawwwwww. (we dont speak of my age in this house)
Paul is more excited for me to get my gifts then I am i think. LOL
I have to wait untill he get's home from work (Which should be about 7pm).
There will be NO cake for me since i am dieting (did i mention that?...I lost 6 pounds in less then a week?..if not i will write about it another time).
Heather is QUITE upset that there will be no cake.
perhaps i shall make some cupcakes for the kids and paul. (They dont tempt me THANK GOD..HOWEVER the bananna bread i made 2 days ago...holy TEMPTATION...but i didnt have any!!!! yahhh me...)
I think i can guess what paul got me...he's predictable. *laughing*
I HINTED for him to get me some pattern books....which i *think* he did.
I think he will get me some concert tickets (GOOGOO DOLLS I am guessing, but if they were sold out then NICKELBACK)

I have finshed 3 crochet items/things. LOL

For father's day i made paul GROMIT (minus the face because i didnt have the proper buttons and didnt want to se just any ol' buttons cus it's GROMIT!!!!)..Paul LOVED it even without a face (he's a brit so wallace & gromit is a fav). We also got him 2 Dvd's he wanted and a gazebo/sun shade that fella fter 2 days. We returned it and got a re-fund and he is using tha money for "man-building-supplies"..LMAO.

After i made Gromit heather wanted a stuffed toy so i let her pic from about 10 patterns and she picked....THIS:

After that was done i decided to try ONE more time on the shrug that goes with the tank-y top that i posted pics of. I figured it would go smootly because the top did..NOPE. I . WAS. WRONG.
I am the type of person who likes FULL instructions..word for word. This was a bit challenging for me. BEcause when someone says: "word 79 dc's evenly spaced around" i NEED to know EXACTLY where to put the buggers. So i tried it 3 times...didnt end up with 79 evenly spaced dc's so a friend of mine basically told me where to put them. GRRRRR. Me and numbers are NOT good. I HATE MATH..so iHATED figuring out where these stitches would go (it wasnt like they were in a straight line, it was in rounds. UGH.
So i finished the matching shrug to the top and i will NOT be making that shrug again!..too much of a hastle.

So i have been busy!

Now i have to make the CANADA DAY Top that a friend of mine designed for me! yahhhhhhh...
AND i have to make a top for my neiece for her b-day (the same one i made heather a post ago :)) Except my neice's is going to be PINK with blue trim & a size bigger!.

so yeah...enought from me...stuff to get started on!

p.s. What is up with trying to post pics on here...took me a good 30 MINS to TRY and get them on here then i had to upload them ONE by ONE and that didnt even work 1/2 the time.

totally forgot to show the 4 little chickies i made for a friend (that i have to mail out to her - it's a surprise!)

I made heather a CANADA DAY HAT to match the CANADA DAY Top i am going to make her (from a friends design).

and here is my latest project...just a progress pic...i took that yesterday but since them i have added the length i wanted and put the trim on the bottom! All that's left is to put on the straps and trim around! whoohoooo...then it's the SHRUG part!

so i joined a yahoo club for testing someone's patterns...
The 1st (and only) one i have done so far is a Christmas Tree Potholder. (kinda wierd doing christmast stuff when we're just comming into SUMMER) hehehee

hummmm..I have a bunch of baby afghans that need finishing within the next 6 weeks! *yikes* so i MUST bet my butt in gear!
I also started a poncho sweater for my niece, like the one i made heather. Just different colors.

I went on a "crochet" shopping spree! hehehehe...Got me some patterns for things i want to make heather for the summer (http://www.luv2crochet.com/salepatterns.html - i have the Pretty in Pink Halter Top w/ Shrug Pattern, Peasant Style Crochet Top Pattern, & Simply Sweet Halter Top Pattern) and got me the recomended yarn! ($5 a ball! that's MUCHO bucks for me seeing as i normally stalk up on SALE items and stash them for later - however i didnt have any of the ones it called for).

I so am DYING to start on these HOWEVER i have to get these baby blankets DONE and shipped! like..NOW! LOL.

I also want to make a CANADA DAY outfit for heather (I'm in Canada remember??) that's red and white. Either a tank top style thingy or a lite and airy dress? hummmmm i dont know! i have a little less then a month to have it done! *july 1st is canada day!*

They are a tad bit small on john..well they actually fit him PERFECT right now, however if he grows a little..WONT FIT! LOL..Paul HATES them..LOL..he thinks thier ok for hammie bottoms (I agree) but "please dont take him out in public in thoes!"..LMAO..i do agree. Next time i will use a smaller stitch and hook! LOL.
but i am very pleased with how they turned out! :)

I went and FOUND yarn that i have been searching for forever!
I got some BERNAT cotton tots AND TLC cotton plus!

really really "gotta" type up the pattern i designed for a caplet!
My good friend is going to test it out for me...then i will post it FOR FREE for a short time :)

I like to day it turned out, my first time ACTUALLY writting out a pattern as i go...it's VERY time consuming, stopping, writting, crocheting, stopping, writting etc...dont know if i will do that again.
I like the fact that i designed something and am thrilled to share it but HOT DAMN it takes awhile! LOL. How do people do it? (and mine isnt complex at all...I would definitly say beginner (I think, i will let my "tester" tell me what she thinks).

I STILL have to take pics of what i have done in the past months...I slack. i know.

Today i got my CROCHET PATTERN A DAY 2006 CALENDAR in the mail! whoohoooooo!
I had thought it was totally out of print however, my wonderful husband found it for me on calendars.com and whoohoooo i HAVE IT! (and he found a 25% off coupon online - it might still be valad if anyone is interested...just leave me a message and i will get it from him and send it yer way).

Also my WONDERFUL friend sent me a CARON pattern booklet in the mail!!! WHOOHOOOOit's some patterns to make with SIMPLE SOFT BRITES :)
I am going in SEARCH of the yarn! (they dont carry it at wal*mart OR zellers)...does MICHAELS carry it? hummmmmm.....

ALSO if this week cant get any better...ZELLERS is having a BUY 1 GET ONE FREE on YARN on thrusday and friday!!!

I so love that term!!!

So i am making a poncho sweater in hopes my daughter will ACTUALLY wear it. I may beven make her a matching skull cap *whoohoooo*

Anyways i got about 3/4ths done and reaslized..this isnt working right...i FIGURED out what my problem was (after mulling at it for HOURS)...so i frogged MANY MANY MANY rows (3/4ths of a 5 oz ball of Bernat Softee Baby) and had to re-ball it...lots of fun.

I started ALLLLLL over....got to the 4th row only to realize the pattern i was doing was MESSED up (prob why i was having a bugger of the time in the first place - i found TWO errors in the pattern). *screams* i know "accidents" happen when writing out a pattern HOWEVER the past 2 patterns i have pulled off the internet have had GRAVE errors in them, and to be quite frank, it's PEEVING ME OFF! (how hard is it to get people to test out your pattern befor you plaster it all over the internet?, or better yet, how about the person test it out a few times and see how it goes? i understand there is "human error" but COMMON! LMAO)
So i noted the error..wrote in the PROPER way to do it and will type it up and keep it for my files.

So yah, that was my day yesterday..crocheting, then frogging, then re-balling, then starting again, then re-writting the pattern, now crocheting again *yahhhhhhh*..sweet sweet relaxing crochet!

Very pleased with it...here look:

THEN someone asked if i could make thier daughter one...so i did...I had to make the pattern to fit a size 5/6 child..so i figured out what the measurements for a a size 5/6 would be and make it to fit..I REALLY hope i nailed it..

It doesnt happen often that i get annoyed or even *gasp* PEEVED but i am.

I ordered a parttern online from someone.
I follow the pattern to a "T" (too much so some might have called me ANAL), i checked my gauge threw-out just to double check (& triple check etc)..I was REALLY excited because i loved the look of it in the pictures she had.
Well, here's where my peevy-y-ness comes in.
There were a "few" errors in the pattern. Nothing major just something that would make you RIP out rows and rows and make you think it was YOUR miscounting....THEN....after i am done (thinking it looks a little odd) i try it on my 3 year old daughter (made the 3-4 pattern which she fits in BOTH size clothes) and it's WAYYYYYYYY to short and about 4 sizes too wide. *sigh*
Now my daughter is an averge size kid..maybe a little on the small size BUT she does fit into the clothes sizes that i MADE the tank top to fit.

I am annoyed at the fact that i paid $5 US (canadian would be about $6.50ish?) and there is no way it will fit.

I know someone else who has bought some patterns from her as well and they were "off" too.

So, i took it upon myself to use her pattern as a guideline to FIT heather. (sugested to me by my friend who was going to use it as a guideline as well)
So far it's working out & fitting the way it SHOULD.
(the finished one i made looked NOTHING like the picture of it that a girl is wearing modeling it).

YA..tad bit annoyed.
I am not going to bother contacting the person who wrote the pattern and sold it...because well, i dont want the confrontation and what's she going to do? refund my money? i think not...so i am just going to SUCK IT UP and stick to buying patterns from books! LOL.

I would post pics but my husband still hasnt installed the digital camera software so i can get the pictures off the camera. that will come when he has some free time.

Onto FUN news....

I got the lastest issue of CROCHET! (new one comes out at the end of this month i think?)..LOVE IT! has some things in there that i am DEFINITLY going to make!!! there is even a skirt/shall pattern in there that i would so wear. (if i was a skirt kinda girl..LMAO - but i would make it anyways!)..there are some cute kids things in there too! and god knows i love making my kids things!!!! :)

Also we FINALLY got some nice storage containers for my YARN!!!!
I was using one of thoe HUGE rubbermaid buckets with a lid. It was a eye sore in the bed room...SOOOOOO...Paul took me to Zellers yesterday and we got some storage stackers that were 30% off till today!!!! WHOOHOOOOOOO so instead of paying $29.99 i paid $20! I got two..thinking that would be PLENTLY of room with room for MORE yarn..NOPE. It JUST fits EVERYTHING i have.
I have them stacked one on top of the other. If i got another, it would be to the ceiling! sooo that's outta the question..and i dont have room in the bedroom for another to go on the side....So i just have to use up the yarn i have and get more! hehehehehehe. (i will take pics and post them when i can)

I went to CHAPTERS yesterday because paul offered to get me some crochet mags (what a good husband!) and they only had 2! TWO FREAKING MAGAZINES on crochet...they had about 10 KNITTING ones..but only 2 crochet ones..and i looked threw them (one was a reg size one & the other was a little annies attick one) and there was NOTHING i would have made...so i left.

Decided MICHAELS should have more right?

So i started baby blanket #1...which i *think* i mentioned?
If not it's going to be a sock monkey type blanket. (have little sock monkey heads on some of the squares)..yes..I remember writing aboout it and posting pics of the yarn i was going to use.

I have NEVER worked with "Bernat baby coordinates sweet stripes" befor...it's quite thin and sleek. When i was looking at the picture on the pattern i was led to believe it would be a somewhat THICK yarn ... guess not! but seeing as though all these baby's being born to my friends will be summer-ish babies, the light yarn is good!

This is a blanket for one of the twins being "cooked" by my friend..LOL..his twin brother will be getting the same blanket but in this color:

I made the blanket smaller (ch 90) instead of the (ch 160) it called for.
I figure the twins will be wee little guys. I dont want them getting lost in a BIG blanket!

I will post a picture on what i have done so far once my battery is charged for the digi cam. That darm battery seems to be losing juice RATHER quickly! grrrrrr...I wonder why it's doing that NOW?

That is the NEW organized list...there were MUCH more folders on there befor! TRUST ME!

I went threw my CROCHET BLOGS folder and cut out 52 blogs...for various reasons but the main being if they have NOT updated since the new year...CUT CUT CUT. Why tie up precious computer space with people who have abandoned thier crochet blog...right? I am not totally ruth-less...I understand there are little "breaks" people have from writing, HECK i have been there...but after almost 3 months of NOTHING..sad sad sad..CUT CUT CUT.

Now i have to fix up this blog a bit and all ALL the other fav blogs that i dont have listed on the side...
I would totally delete my CROCHET BLOGS folder and just have them all on my blog but what would happen if my blog was whipped clean and i didnt have them anymore..A crochet-girl needs BACK-UP! LOL.

I whipped up a size 4 halter top (in deep red - like the one i made heather) for my niece...as per heather's request. She has taken an interest in knowning who her cousins are (she has 1 FIRST cousin which is my 1/2 sister's daughter and she is 4)..there are my cousins but she really doesnt get that..then there are the kids of MY cousins that are the same age as her but i think that's WAYYYYYYY past her understanding..LOL.
She is also into known who her "Friends" are..LOL..this is anyone from someone she saw walk by on the street the other day to my friends children (who are in and around her age)..fun fun!

So yah...I am also making squares still to make a baby blanket with. I get bored of something easy so i jump into something else..then back to what i was orginally working on. LOL

I still havent found a CANADAIN place that sells Lion Brand Lion Cotton in the 5 oz balls...but i can order from Lion Brand directly..pay the exchange, shipping and duty.

I did get the NEW MARY MAXIM catalog today and it has the SUGAR 'n CREAM in there...so if worst comes to worst i can order that in place of the LION COTTON...just means i have to either get the 2 1/2 oz balls (would need 4 @ $2.49 each BUT int he color i want) or get the 1-lb cone (for $16.99 in a color i am not too keen on *Ecru*)..PLUS shipping which would be about $6-$8...

SO MANY DECSISSIONS to make!
oh well..I will mull it over for a few more days and see what happens!

So right now it's my LIFE's MISSION (obsession?) to find this damn 100% cotton in 5oz balls...to make YEEHAW LADY (cowboy hat)

I decided to go threw my old mary maxim catalogs and i *found* Sugar 'n Cream which is the same as Lion Brand Cotton EXCEPT they dont make it in the 5oz balls... they ONLY come in 1-il cones (in 3 solid colors only that are not really my preference) and in 2 1/2 oz balls (in a WIDE variety of colors i LIKE..ESPECIALLY the :softly taupe)....Did i mention wal*mart does NOT carry this brand? OR Zellers...OR Michaels...OR the yarn outlet i go to? GRRRRRRRRR....
So delema there is...do i get the 1-lb cone and go with either white, Ecru or Cream and have to measure out 212 meters of it, ball it so i can have 2 stands together (what the pattern calls to do..crochet with 2 strands together). OR so i get 5 balls of the other stuff and have to TIE 2 of them together so i can get enought yard-age to make the hat (which i DONT want to do because i dont want a damn KNOT in the pattern TWICE.

CRAP-O-LA.

NOW, i also see in the mag that there are 2 other cottons i could work with HOWEVER

One is the CLEAN COTTON and it's a Size 10 "MERCERIZED" cotton. I had no idea what MERCERIZED meant so i looked it up and it basically told me it was something to "strenghten" the cotton. (any one else know what it means? please tell me if i am wrong)..It comes in ALOT of colors i like (I am going for a tan/light brown hat)..It comes in 1094 years so i would have plenty just would have to measure out the yardage i need and cut it..time consuming i think...

There is another called ANNE COTTON and it's a SPORT WEIGHT cotton...it comes in 546 yards so cutting again to get the right yardage ugh.

So here's another questions.
The pattern calls for 100% WORSTED WEIGHT COTTON..
can i substite with either of the two i just mentioned...
being the size 10 MERCERIZED ot the SPORT WEIGHT cotton and get the same look/results?

ALSO I dont quite understand the sizes of some cotton...does it mean the thickness of the cotton string? because both the Lion cotton and the Sugar 'n Cream cotton done specify size...where as others do...
I am soooooooo getting FRUSTRATED with this..

Life would be so much less complicated if we have the LION COTTON here in CANADA!?..why dont we? WHY WHY WHY? (seriously people i have called EVERY year store here..plus the dept stores that carry yarn and they DO NOT have lion cotton OR sugar 'n cream)...I looked on freaking e-bay and they have SOME on there but only 1 damn ball..I NEED TWO and the colors are icky. i dont want a tangerine orange cowboy hat..or a cotton candy pink hat. *cries*

yes, i REALLY need help (& not in the metal health department *laughing*) i mean REAL HELP befor i END up in some mental health facility....

I have been to 4 (FOUR) store in SEARCH of a CERTAIN brand of yarn to make YEEHAW LADY from the Stitch 'n bitch crochet book. I have been to ZELLERS, Wal*mart, MICHAELS & a yarn wearhouse...and they dont have/carry it.

What i am LOOKING for is:

It's a All Natural 4 ply - medium worst-weight

*sigh* i really wanted to make it...i have so many friends (4) that are expecting (one is having twins) & i really wanted to give them one..
anyways...I am not going to make myself CRAZY over this pattern so i went onto another afghan.

I am making a SOCK MONKEY afghan/blanket. I saw the idea in the STITCH 'n BITCH CROCHET book i got...but i am not going to be making the pattern like that...mine's going to be a little more BASIC because i have not filly mastered the granny square with lots 'o holes..LOL.
So basically it's going to be squares put together..i am using BERNAT softee chunky in the Grey Ragg

i am going to alternate squares of that with the grey heather (which i have to go and get still)

I want to go a RED trim around and to hold the squares together...maybe the berry red?

and there are going to be little sock monkey faces on the corner squares..(which the pattern for is in the book) :)
so that's my idea! yup...gonna see how it turned out! Out of all the preggies (hehehehhe) only 1 knows what they are having and it's a BOY. so i think she will get it! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book!!!!
It was a easy pattern to follow...and it's nice every now and again using a differnt method to make a hat then what i am usted to.

This took me about 2 days of doing on and off...maybe a total of 4-6 hours? I was reading the pattern so that kept me on my toes (reading, re-reading, reading etc..)..usually i just wing it and make it up as i go..NOT THIS TIME BABY!!! hehehehehehe

So i have finished some things. YES! I, the slacker of all sorts have finshed up some very fine crochet things!

made my baby boy a hat/scarf set for SPRING..because hot-damn hats and scarves are NOT just for the winter!

I made a cat toy stuffed with a plastic bag (someone mentioned using that instead of batting because it makes a crinkle-y noise) and put cat nip in there. It was NOT a hit with my 3 fur-babies :( i think the "kitty-crack" was bad (aka catnip). LOL I didnt take a pic because it was such a FLOP with them! LOL

I got the book ".Stitch 'N Bitch Crochet: The Happy Hooker " I LOVE IT!!! i cant wait to start something! ..my eldest son wants me to make him the anarcy (sp?) beanie!... and there are a few other things in there i wouldnt mid making for MYSELF *gasp..what a concept that is..making something for ME!?*

So I have a picture of me and my eldest...He JUST got his braces off a few days ago and is THRILLED...He has to go back on monday and get his semi-permenant retainers in (bottom is permantly put in there for a year..the top ones come out to eat. - now he started off with top and bottom retainers befor the braces went on and about 4 months SHY of when he should have gotten the braces he went and LOST the top AND bottom ones..NOT HAPPY CAMPERS here..but thankfully the retianers did do thier job and he got the braces put on earlier. ok done this rant).
So we have been snapping pictures left and right! MONEY WELL SPENT (still paying..only got $900 left to go!..thank goddess that paul's work covered 60% of the total..which was a WHOPPING $4500.00. but agian i stress..MONEY WELL SPENT! :)
So here is me and my boy (yes, befor it comes out your mouth..we look more like brother & sister then we do son & mother..i said it befor..I am CURSED with looking YOUNG)

thought i would throw some pics of them up here...

1st one i got (professionally) was a rose on my right breast..I *think* i was 18.

2nd i got in Oct 2001. After the loss of my second child (miscarried Sept 2001) it's the chinese symbol for "Angel"...it's in his/her memory. It is on my left calf..well..just above my ankle

I have little home-made ones (As i like to call them because they were NOT professionally done. I did them..they are super small and not worth talking about because..well...you cant see them much! LOL..

I want to get 2 more. 1 that has to do with my life with Paul (I am thinking of adding onto the rose tattoo...maybe putting his name in there. The other one, i want all 3 of my babies names in there (zachary, heather-anne & john)..maybe just the first letter of thier name because that would be ALOT of tattooing! LOL.
I am going to design them both...but nothing has come to me..I will wait untill that time comes :)

So yesterday after i posted what i had to i TRIED to post another entry with more pictures HOWEVER seems blogger and i were having some "ISSUES" and it wouldnt let me..kept telling me something about "cookies" and "security" so i muged around with my settings (When i probably shouldnt have) and it still didnt work..UGH..so i re-set everything BACK to the way it was and coffed it off as being a blogger thing and not a "my computer thing"..and it works today!?

WIERD.

So like i was mentioning yesterday i am making another pair of fingerless gloves...I ditched the pattern i was using (too complicated and was not well written so i couldnt understand) and just made it up as i went along. I am not thrilled with the way it turned out. :( (i finished one glove)..but i am still going to go ahead and make the other one and let her (my sons girlfriend) decide if she likes them or not. ((I think i dont like how big the thumb hole is...ya, i think that's it!))
So here are the progress pictures:

Like i said, i finished up that one last night...did about 6 more rows of single crochet around the top. voila.

Also a few weeks ago i made 2 12X12 inch squares for a afghan for an online friend.
A bit of background info (She doesnt read this so i can write about it, it's a surprise)..She is a lovely lady who lost a baby a few months ago :( He had heart problems and didnt live long after birth. So very very sad.
A mutal online friend had the idea to make her an afghan called "love squared"...it's both a knit and crochet afghan. So here is my contrabution to it:

I like how they turned out and i am pleased with it overall, however, the multi-colored one, i am not too too thrilled with..I still like it but not as much as the green square. I LOVE the green one. I am thinking i might make an afghan for myself using that green pattern (which i didnt follow a pattern, just winged it *lol*)

Does any one have a pattern for a 12 month size shrug? a friend of mine is looking for a pattern and i cant seem to find ANYTHING online! grrrrrrrr.

I have it in my head i am going to make some cat toys. I have a FULL bag of catnip that I want to put inside the finished cat toys. ((I cannot for the life of me sprinkle catnip on my carpet because 1. i have a baby who crawls around and puts EVERYTHING in his mouth and 2. it looks DIRTY..LMAO..)) I have heard of someone who stuffed the cat toy with plsatic bags because it makes a crinkle noise for the cat when it attacks it..so i might try that! Good idea to me!

Hi ya!

So i decided to have a go at some finger-less PUNK gloves.
I wanted to make a pair for my oldest son's girl friend (Who i usted to baby sit and have known for years)....
this is the first pair i made and I LOVE THEM!..I am thinking of making myself a pair (because we all know how "punk" i am LMAO)..they only took a few hours...so why not eh?

My daughter had to get into the action in the last picture..LOL..obviously NOT the right size for a 3 year old!...LOL....
In the 3rd picture it's a bit bulky around my wrist because i had my watch on. doh!

So i am pretty damn pleased with the way they turned out! :) I took the pictures to send to the g/f because my describing them just didnt do them justice!..I sent her a pic of the pattern i followed and she LOVED it! (I made sure to ask her what she thought befor i went ahead and made them!)

Oh here is the pattern if your interested:

Ch 39Row
Row 1: sc in second ch from hk. sc in each ch across. ch 1 turn.Row 2-26: sc in blo (back Loops only) of each sc across. ch1 turn.Row 27: sl st into the first 8 sc. ch 1 sc in each sc across blo.

Row 28-37: sc in blo of each sc across. Do not sc in sl sts. Finish off. Fold so that short side matches up to the long side.
Sl St to join row 37 to row 1.
Make sure not sl st the thumb opening closed. Match up the edges of the long sides at the top of the glove and sl st them closed. Weave in ends.

**i did 2 rows of single crochet around them after then were done..I just think it needed a bit more to them.

So now i am doing ANOTHER pair of fingerless gloves...making the pattern up as i go..

I got this upper resp thing a few weeks ago...finally a few days ago i started to feel better...as of yesterday it's BACK..and FULL force. NOT FUN.
However now that my youngest has wheened himself I *might* be able to take meds again! The joy i tell you!!! PURE joy! (nursing sure puts alot of limits on what you can and cant take). As sad as i am that my youngest (and last child) doesnt need me anymore *sniffles*, i am THRILLED to be done.

in case you dont remember, i have 3 children.
Zac my oldest son is going to be 15 in a few months.
Heather-Anne, my only girl & middle child just turned 3 on Feb.05
and my yougest son, John, will be a year old on March.05.
my oh my does time fly. My babies are growing up (and i still call my oldest my baby!)

and #4 just announced she is preggy!!!! I couldnt be more THIRLLED!!!!

friend #1 (in no particular friend order, just the 1st to announce) is due in JUNE

friend #3 is due WITH TWINS in late August

and now friend #4 (whom i am the closest with) is NEWLY preggy!!! I am guessing she is due sometime in October?

Made the first one on the KNIFTY KNITTER i got for christmas from my husband awwwwwwww...he got me SO much crochet related stuff that i wanted...what a GOOD husband!

I used the POOCH blue sky...the WHOLE thing was used up!

This hat was made from BERNAT Harmony...I LOVE this...it's soooo soft to work with.
It's a SKULL/BEANIE tyle style (made it for son who is almost 15 years old).

(Yes, that's me modeling the hat!...befor anyone says i look young..I KNOW..I am actually 31 *yikes*..god i hate that number! *cringes*)

I am doing a little more on BIL's afghan....about 3-5 rows a day. gotta get moving on it MORE to get it done for boxing day! *yikes*

One of my LOVELY fur-beasts (would say fur-babies but one of them ANNOYED me)

(there are 3 cats in that pic all huddled together) decided to "kneed" the afhgan that i left on the couch while i went and tended to laundry and pulled some of my stitches...thankfully they didnt RIP or TEAR it...i just moved it around a bit and it kinds fell back into place.

My own fault....dont leave my projects laying around when you have 3 cats! ugh.

I also got some "goodies" at Michaels and Chapters a few weeks ago that i took pics of and FORGOT to post.......here is a pic:

I am not thilled with the Crochet Fantasy mag...kinda wish i hadnt bought it now after having a good while to go threw it but whatever...maybe someday it will be of use to me! LOL....The other mag i LOVE LOVE LOVE...and that little leaflet is a freebie and i DO intend to make that afghan one day! :)

The cotton will get much use out of...I am in need of some more dishclothes! (one can neverhave too many right?)

My yarn oder that is....

Which was a TAD bit disapointing.

They were sold out of the PROMISE YARN (funny when i ordered it it was there AND when i went back to the website it says there is some still in stock)...
ALSO they FORGOT my POOCH YARN (big sky)...GRRRRR
so i got paul to call (he offered) to see what was up and they said "they forgot to add it to the order"...ummmm ok??? They said they would ship it out .... paul asked ifwe were going to be charged shipping for that and they said NO.

I dont think i will be ordering from them again (Mary Maxim)....I HATE when i have a bad experience with an on-line company.

Yes, i am back at it.
I did 5 rows today...it took me a few hours ('tis a big afghan) on & off.
I have decided that in order to have this ready by BOXING DAY (when we *have* to go over to the inlaws) i at LEAST have to do 4 rows a day to get it finished. *yikes*
I always seem to STRESS when i have a deadline to do something. No matter what it is i think i wont get it done on time.

There is so many other crochet projects i want to finish off or get started on!

I altered the patter a little bit to make them fit my door knobs better
Takes me all of 20 mins to whip of thies bad-boys...I also crochet the eyes, nose and mouth individually and attach them. I didnt have googley eyes and pom poms on hand so i improvised.

Kids updates:
Heather-Anne (age 2.5 years) is now potty trained durning the day. Only wears pull-ups for naps and bed time...yahhhhhhh

John (age 8.5 months) has 4 teeth now! tooth #4 poped out last night..2 bottom and now, 2 top!

Zac (age 14.5 years) gpt his first report card of high school and is doing great! Teachers like him and had nothing but wonderful things to say about him!

Tomorrow is my husbands works kids x-mas party...we are going for 2 hours because he HAS TO WORK...grrrrrrr.
It's ok though....heather loves the craft stuff..and i am sure we will have yet another x-mas picture of her CRYING beside Santa because she is TERRIFIED...LOL.
I am anxious to see what John thinks of the big red and white dude.
They always have a good party with AWSOME gifts for the kids..well, last year wasnt as impressive because of the hocket strike but this year should be good now that everything is back-on-track (he works for a well known Canadian Hockey Team & Basketball Team - he runs the TV station)

Mom's b-day is today....
I made her a scarf (trimmed with faux fur), a snowflake dishcloth in red/white/green & last night i decided to make a snowman door knob thingy. I hope she likes it!

I burned the inside of my arn pretty bad over the weekend....SILLY me put the electric kettle on to boil for some tea and reached my arm across it to grab something and at that VERY moment i did that it decided to boil and shoot steam out at me! OUCH!
It's really tender today as the skin is starting to tighten (it was blistering a few days ago) and to make matters worst when it was blistering i banged up against something and it took a chunk out of the blistered part. not fun!
That will teach me to go anywhere near that kettle when it's turned on! *yikes*

So i started on my friends son's scarf. I have to have it done by tomorrow so i can ship it off to her. (she's in the US, I'm in CANADA) and god knows how long it will take to ship, plus i am shipping it the cheapest possible. Hopefully it will get there befor it get's too cold!

I have ABSOLUTLY no desire to work on BIL's afghan. *sigh* I dont know why BIL insists on making comments that hurt my feelings. I figure why should i put my time and energy into this when i feel horrible from things that are said in reference to me?....this is sepost to be a labor of love (crocheting this afghan) and i am feeling NO LOVE right now.
I think in the mean time untill my hurt has passed i will just work on this for people that make me happy. (is anyone else like this? am i the only one who has to feel happy-ness towards someone to create something for them?)

And regarding the afghan, my husband when and told him parents that i was going to make this for him from x-mas so i have no choice but to eventually put my hurt asside and have this done as a gift. wonderful. It will just be a afghan....not a "pressent from the heart".

So i am making a afghan for my BIL...my husband likes to refere to it as a "blanket". I think he would rather day BLANKET instead of AFGHAN *laughing*...whatever...

What i REALLY REALLY wanted to get was a chocolate color....or the WALNUT (which is listed on thier website) HOWEVER Michaels doesnt seem to keep many colors in this type/brand. GRRR @ them! I think i am going to stick to Wal*Mart for my yarn. They seem to have more of a selection of you can beleive that! (I would love to find another place to get my crocheting supplies in the area HOWEVER i am pretty much new here and dont know what other places there are! nothing is advertised in flyers either! ahhgghhh)

I have finished the first one...i have 4 more that i have on hand...I have a feeling i am going to have to get some more! *yikes*...

I chained 230 (or ther abouts..i forgot to write it down *doh*) to start it...so that will be the width. I will just keep going untill it's a size i like.

I dont usually follow a pattern...just kinda go with my mood.
This one is Row 1 SC, DC etc to the end...chain 1, turn...Row 2 is SC only to end...ch 1, turn and back to following Row 1. and keep alternating....I like the look of it.... Hopefully he will too (but i am not holding my breath, he is hard to please *sigh*)

this is the second hat i made...which is for a friend of mine's son:

this is the FIRST hat i ever made AND followed a pattern! (this is my daughter!)..I made and added the flower on. this is the "test" poncho i made for Heather...it turned out HUGE (put it away for later) and i used my not-so-good yarn on it.

I REALLY want to learn how to crochet MITTENS but i am a bit leary of the whole "thumb" part. LOL...Does any one have a EAY pattern out there? Actually, when making mittens do you make the thumb seprate then attach it or can you do it all at once?

when i change colors i knot the other color into the color i am finishing up on...i know..BAD BAD BAD but how does the yarn stay attached if it's loose like that? and weaving in loose ends? yikes...SCARY TO ME! hehehehehe

ALSO if there is anyone in my area (Hamilton Mountain ontario CANADA) that KNOWS of a crocheting club or whatever..PLEASE let me know! i would be sooo interested in joining something like that.

I'm 31 year old mother and wife...(who lives on Hamilton Mountain in Ontario CANADA)
My children are Zac age 14.5 years, Heather-Anne age 2.5 years, & John age 8 months.
My husband and i have been together for almost 10 year and married for 4 years.
Since being married we have moved houses a total of 3 times! (from cornwall to pembroke, pembroke to burlington, & burlington to hamilton). NO MORE MOVING FOR US for awhile..even thought i really so want to live in the country :) 8 years till we move! hehehehe

I am addicted to crocheting!
My frist time picking up a crochet hook was when i was 18...a friend of mine tought me to go the almighty granny square afghan...going around and around and around.
Over the years i have self taught how to do different patterns for blankets/lap blankets/afghans.
Reciently i have been about to follow patterns! whoohoooooo...something i was TERRIFIED of. Really, it wasnt that hard once you know all the "terms" and things!
Since then i have made many hats for the babies (children), poncho's, toys etc....
I still concider myself a "beginner"...but more an advanced-beginner *laughing*....

Right now I have many projects on the go for x-mas pressies.
1. afghan for BIL
2. bear afghan & dog bath mitten for daughter
3. baby blanket for youngest son (Which i started when i was pregnant with him, i totally forgot about it in the midst of a hig risk pregnancy)

and of course there is more that have to be done...
1. poncho for 4 year old neice
2. fancy scarf for mom
3. x-mas goodies
4. scarf for a friends son (already made him 2 hats - have to get that in the mail soon!)

hopefully i will get to that soon!
